It is a small shrub, 2 to 3 m tall and roughly resembles leucaena. It is a native of tropics and subtropics of the new world, palatable, aggressive, persistent and tolerant to heavy grazing. It has 22 per cent protein in leaves and 10-15 per cent in stems. No poisonous principle is observed in the foliage.
